For NBA Free Agents, the Stretch Provision Comes with Cash and Complication

Players across the league are being paid despite the team no longer employing their services. While this mostly appears positive, free agents like Spencer Hawes, who were waived by the stretch provision, lose benefits like health care and could potentially forfeit 10% of their salaries.

The creators of the recent viral LeBron James parody video are a part of a well-oiled content-creating machine that has stuck together for close to a decade. It was a sweltering summer day in Waco, Texas, when Mark Phillips first decided to pick up the camera. Phillips, his cousin Affiong Harris and several other childhood friends turned on their pawn shop Nikon and recorded what would later be known as “Hilarious Home Video,” the first YouTube upload for their channel, RDCWorld1 .
