Going to Extremes with Aperture : To cover extreme kayaker Rafa Ortiz’s record attempt to run the 189-foot Palouse Falls in Washington State, photographer Lucas Gilman brought state-of-the-art gear, including a MacBook Pro running Aperture software. Aperture’s fast import browsing allowed Gilman to see sharp preview images even before his huge RAW files had finished downloading and to begin making selects while still in the field. Since then, Gilman upgraded his workflow by adding a MacBook Pro with Retina display.
